Financially smart?

Poster Message:
If being financially smart is your first priority, don't pledge. It's that simple. And if you base your decision on finances only, you might be making a huge mistake over a difference of just a few hundred dollars. I am not from a wealthy family and yet my parents are footing the entire bill for tuition and housing. That's because they were financially smart and had 18 years to put money aside for my college. That's what responsible parents do, instead of expecting their kids to take on tens of thousands of dollars of debt for their education. I pay for my own incidentals and I also made sure I would get academic scholarships to offset costs. It's also why I opted for a state university instead of a private school. So let's eliminate your attitude about only the wealthy paying for their kids college. It was just part of simple financial planning. And it's still stupid to choose sisterhood for life based on the few houses with bargain basement prices. You get what you pay for.
