The last of the millennials were born in 1997. The youngest turned 20 this year. At the peak of the millennial boom in 1990 there were about 5 million births a year. By the end, which are junior and senior college students this year, there were just over 4 million. College enrollment has been declining for the last 8 years and now Gen Z is entering post-secondary education, with a pool of 1 million fewer students than at the peak of the millennial boom. So, yea,the person who said college enrollment has been up for 12 years just likes to make sht up. Enrollmnents are down nationwide for two reasons: the college generation is significantly smaller and fewer students attend post-secondary schools when the economy strengthens.
