To clarify: COB DOES NOT MEAN THAT A HOUSE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AT RECRUITMENT. COB allows chapters get up to the campus total, which is typically the AVERAGE chapter size. The way math works, half the chapters are under the average size. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything negative about those chapters. Maybe they took more sophomores or women who had high school credit and graduated in three years, and so have smaller senior pledge classes. Whatever the case, it seems smart to me to take new members when you can. It means additional funds, the ability to be more competitive in Homecoming/Greek Week, and more sisters. We all know outstanding women who aren’t currently part of PHA – COB let’s chapters have a shot and getting them. We also know that chapters from all “tiers” COB, so let’s stop calling it a problem and start celebrating the opportunity to welcome more quality women into PHA.
