Keep in mind 4 things: 1. Informal rush is kind of sketchy. You can sign up and never hear from any house. That's because the types of houses that do informal are also the types of houses that just take friends of current members instead of reaching for the best girls available. 2. Be forewarned that because houses are not obligated to invite informal rushees to events, there is a huge potential for discrimination. 3. Houses that cut you during formal rush likely won't consider you 4. Rushing as a sophomore reduces the number of houses that might be interested, but between now and then you can work on your grades, work on your involvement and work on making good friends in the dorm so that you might not even want to rush.
