It doesn't happen, plain and simple. When you are invited to a house on the last day of recruitment that means you will appear somewhere on their bid list. When a member of a sorority tells a PNM "hope we see you on bid day," that's not bid promising, that's simply conversation, because the PNM will, indeed, appear on a bid list. Now, when women on this site get their undies in a bunch about "bid promising," it is only because they had hoped their name would be higher on a sorority's bid list and be able to join that sorority. Because it wasn't, they didn't get a bid and they've been crying "foul" ever since. Sux to suk, but that's the reality. So just ignore all of that talk about bid promising and consider the source: disgruntled women who didn't measure up and who got their second or third (inferior) choice.
