In most houses, being a legacy hardly matters. They could fill two or three entire pledge classes just with legacies and they would never do that. So you just have to bring your A game, look and do your best, keep the conversation flowing and act like you are enjoying the process. I don't think being from a small town will hurt you any more than being from out of state. And there are some houses that love small-town girls and out of starters. Those houses usually are better than the houses that get all excited about what high school you went to in St. Louis. In fact, I think it's sometimes better that you don't know anyone when you go through rush because then no one can speak out against you during cut sessions. Someone posted a short time ago that before rush you need to think about how important Greek life is to you, and whether you would be willing to accept a bid to a not-as-popular house if it came to that. Spend some time thinking about that and talking with parents or friends who have been in sororities. Then figure out how you feel about it, because you might have to make that choice (ANYONE might have to make that choice, actually).
