Your options are limited for informal recruitment. Only certain houses will COB. Typically we see sigma, KD, phi mu, zeta, and SK COB every year. They will take anywhere between 5-20 girls. Sometimes a mid tier house like Adpi or AXO COB as well, however the mid tier houses typically don't need as many girls. They will only handout 1-5 bids to make up for numbers of girls that went abroad or transferred. If you wait to do formal as a sophomore you will have similar problems. You will be low on the bid list for any house because you are up against mostly freshman. You will probably see a low number of houses that call you back to each round. If you're looking for a top tier house for either COB or formal as a sophomore, you most likely won't get one. Mid tier will be selective as their spots are very limited. Bottom tier houses are easier to join only because they typically can take more girls, however it is not guaranteed! If you do informal, make sure you make goood friends with the girls that are actives in that chapter. Your connections will be your way in. If you rush as a sophomore, you need to make sure your grades are high (3.4 or higher), and that you are involved in other groups on campus. Good luck, A former COB
