something has been bothering me lately and I wonder if anyone thinks about this... Does anyone question the worth of a sorority especially when it comes to fundraising/philanthropies? If annual dues for a member (just in one pledge class) are around $2500-$3000 for the average house, that comes out to a total of about $200,000-$250,000 a year. Yet I saw that one one of the chapters with the biggest philanthropies had a fundraising goal of $111,000 for the year. It seems kind of backwards that we would be paying more to be in a sorority than we would actually be fundraising for the charity... And the sorority is actually making even more because it gets money from girls in each grade, not just new members. Does anyone get what I mean?? It almost seems wrong to pay so much to the local chapter and the National chapters when that money could be making such a huge difference somewhere. Thoughts??
