I'm not trying to be overly critical of Alpha Phi, but I do find myself wondering about some things. Alpha Phi is one of the older sororities on this campus. It has been around longer than the newcomers -- SK, Sigma, PhiMu, KD -- of course. But since it was established here in 1910 it also actually has been around longer than some extremely well-established houses like ADPi (1915), TriDelt (1915), Gamma Phi (1921) and Alpha Chi Omega (1922). So why does a house with such a rich history have such low standards? They struggle at retention, they have grades that are below the all-sorority average (especially for new members) and their actual physical house just isn't on the same level as some of the sororities mentioned above. Is it lack of support from nationals? Is it a bad alumni network? Is loyalty lacking after graduation? I would love to know how it got into this situation.
