I went through as a freshman, but I know a few girls who went through as sophomores and had amazing experiences. My best recommendation would be to make a lot of good friends in different houses. I can't speak for other houses (we all do it differently), but my house takes sophomores. However, it is much more difficult to get in as one (but not impossible!!) Ultimately, you need people who will pull for you.Talk to the girls you know who are in X,Y,Z houses and tell them you're really interested in rushing. If you like their chapter, go hang out with them at the house. Go to a date party or to the dining halls with their friends. The more girls you know who will pull for you, the better rush experience you'll have. And you'll know more about the chapter & whether or not it'd be a good fit for you. That being said, knowing people isn't everything. Smile, be engaging and yourself. I know it's a hard process (it's very difficult on the other side, too), but just be open and nice. One piece of advice I received prior to going through was to answer every question with a story. It might sound silly, but it helps the conversation flow. As an active, we want you to give us as much info as possible. EX: "How was move-in day?" "Good!" ORR EX: "How was move-in day?" "It was great! I wanted to make sure my dorm was really cute & comfortable so I looked on pinterest for dorm room ideas." "Oh, I love Pinterest!" blah blah blah I hope that helps & good luck! :)
