fraternities that I instantly clicked with (still among the top 10, mind you). It was refreshing, and gave me a whole new perspective even though I was definitely late to the party in terms of getting a bid. I ended up getting bids from all 4 of the fraternities I had talked to and for the most part I had my roommates, three total strangers I never knew until meeting them that weekend, to thank. I didn't go to any rush events after that and I didn't really keep in contact with anyone other than the occasional "Can you make it to [insert event]?" "Nah, sorry I can't," and that was just fine. Bama Bound I talked to some people, but that was it. I never really did anything other than contemplate who I would choose until school rolled around, and now I'm in the fraternity I wanted. So here's my point, from a fellow Carolinian who felt like they were pressured to make connections and get bids despite being behind the curve: you're going to find the right fraternity if you just play it out casually. Talk to guys from your hometown, go out to parties with your roommates, be a fun guy. You'll only stress yourself out and cause a mess if you email every rush chair on campus asking for information. Good luck man, hopefully your senior year goes well and you find the right fraternity for yourself when the time comes.
