Each group can only invite back a certain percentage of PNMs (the number is based on historic return rates and is set by Panhellenic). So every night, just like you, the sorority members rank the PNMs. A certain amount has to be released. Those who rank the lowest are released. Every day, the numbers are worked down, until the last night, when PNMs are invited back to three, or two, or one, or no sororities. That's when you're ranking counts the most.
