Welcome to the South! There are old row fraternities and new row fraternities and Everybody has an opinion on which designation is the best depending on personal affiliation. I can tell you that most of the old row fraternities are populated with local and in-state graduates and new row fraternities have a combination of in and out of state. That being said, there are 30 fraternities at Bama with DKE, SAE & KA the most popular Old row and Theta Chi, Sigma Chi & Pi Kappa Alpha being the most popular new row. I'm in a sorority here and can tell you there are about 5-6 other great fraternities in addition to the above including ATO, Beta, Sigma Nu, Phi Gam, Phi Delt, Pi Kappa Phi. Hope this helps you.
