Is also add: 7. Bid day is kind of an awkward day. Even if you got your top choice, you run to your house and don’t know anyone other than the 3-4 older girls that you met in the house during recruitment. Some girls around will be so joyful and others may be crying because they are disappointed. You feel pressure to act excited and act like you instantly belong. It’s awkward. Don’t let that stress you out. It happens at every house. The new member retreats that you get to go to after are so fun and a great way to start meeting new friends among your sisters. I will also say, bid day is a bigger day for the Actives because they are excited to get most of the girls they wanted and they are relieved recruitment is over because it marks an end of two straight weeks of 14+ hours days of practice and recruitment. The Actives will stick around on bid day and then get the hell out of there because they are tired, want to spend time with their boyfriends, and finally get to go out and party with their friends. Trust me, their week was way more grueling than yours. Also, I didn’t feel like my house was really my home until I spent day and night complaining with others and pomping during homecoming in October. Making close friends and feeling at home takes time and effort and overcoming the weirdness of putting yourself out there. Go to the house for meals, introduce yourself to other new members, and go to the sisterhood events and swaps with girls you just met. Try and you will find your people.
