RFM pretty much guarantees that we aren’t able to only take girls we know already. It’s not optional to follow the release numbers Panhellenic gives us and we’re expected to meet quota. If we only took girls we knew, our PCs would be like 50 girls (much lower for some more OOS houses). Not to mention that there are only 7 out of 17 houses that are really known for preselecting their PCs. There are definitely issues involving race and discrimination in sorority life but I don’t think legacies and recs are the highlight, particularly now that it’s perfectly acceptable to get recs from a local alumnae chapter. IMO a bigger issue and one that is hardest to combat is individual sorority members submitting a racially biased vote.
