you don't look at Recs until you're looking for a reason to cut the person. That's the problem. That's one of the reasons the events leading up to sorority integration were so controversial. The girl did everything right and the sororities, under pressure from alumni and Execs, went to extreme lengths to find holes and disqualify the person. Telling a person of color to not worry about Rec Letters is like telling a person of color to not worry about the police.
