Earlier every year? Not really. In the “old days” girls arrived with thoughts on the house they wanted from Middle School chatter - and if Mom/Dad was an alumn, even sooner. Rules about contact periods and the like made sense then to prevent a stacked deck. All was well when people communicated by land line and most were coming to Bama from in state. Now with social media and much more OOS influence the process begins when these “new comers” know they are coming to Bama and accept. That’s actually later than the old days. Girls are wise to learn as much as possible from now until recruitment about houses and the girls in each. Times aren’t what they used to be and things are changing. Yet there is a reluctance to keep up by Panhellenic and the old school. Old rules are dated by the change in who attends and is recruited. And also by technology. What’s wrong with that? Does and meme worship is a commitment and expensive. Learn as much as you can before bid day. If an active wants to talk/chat/IM/message/text, don’t be shy.
