“Wedded to an idea” and “wedded to ‘something’’”, are appropriate uses of the word to express a commitment to something. Not at all uncommon in the English language. So you are wrong in your correction of “wedded to the past”. It eloquently expresses your commitment to the way things were, and as such your failure to see things as they are. So please make us aware of your scholarly credentials. And laziness to even do a simple search!
