Alumnae initiation is generally granted to women who are already involved somehow in helping the sorority. They either donate money or give a lot of time helping out somehow in a specific way, like house mothers or mothers of initiates who go way above and beyond. That's very different than a grad student who wants to come onto campus and have the college sorority experience. Not realistic for either sorority life or grad school life. I don't know a grad student who would have any time to contribute to a chapter.
