Obviously don’t mention it during recruitment. However, I am an active at a house and this past summer attempted suicide due to depression and anxiety. Now obviously I didn’t broadcast it to the whole chapter, but I did tell a few close friends and the sorority president just for safety concerns. Everybody was so accepting and loving with open arms. Obviously not every house will have people like this because some are stuck in the 80s when mental illness was considered a “sin” by some. But I love my house and am grateful for all of the love and support that they gave me in the hardest time of my life. Those downvotes are probably from pretty rich girls who are terrified of a real disease. Don’t worry. You will find your home.
