I’ve never been convinced theta’s lack of affiliation has much to do with their struggles in recent years. Their members still manage to pull some pretty good leadership positions without the extra help. They had some internal issues a few years ago, and getting a new house dead last put them way behind the other houses in recruitment and that just snowballed. I do agree though that if a house like alpha chi or chi o left the machine it would make it so much easier for other houses to follow.
