@realistic - can you explain your low GPA? Do you have a learning disability? Are you on medication for ADHD, what is your ACT? Have you experienced an a huge life issue that contributed to your "perceived" poor performance.... if you can 'explain' your low GPA then you and your rec writers should do so in a letter. Get top alums to help 'explain' your low GPA and accentuate your involvement in other areas. You need someone to vouch for you, your character and your potential. Do your work up front with the houses through your rec writer and girls in the houses who can vouch for you. MAKE CONNECTIONS! Once rush starts - it's too late. GPA isn't everything.... but if that's all someone sees on paper - you'll struggle through rush. Do your 'homework', get really good rec writers, and make in house connections. Good Luck!!
