Usually, the first couple fraternities and sororities that were ever founded have pretty strong nationals because they've been able to build their reputation over the centuries and because just simply they were one of the first (kind of like how Kappa Alpha Theta is known to be one of the best sororities in the country because it was the first women's fraternity founded). DKE is one of the oldest fraternities around and was founded at Yale University back in the 1800's. They have an extensive list of notable alumni, which includes six former presidents. Overall, DKE has the strong reputation is does is because of it's rich and extensive history. DKE here at Bama is considered one of the top houses and I know that, if you're a guy, regardless of how many men you know in the chapter, unless you're from Alabama and from legitimate old money you will not receive a bid. However, I have heard that DKE's nationals are coming down very, very hard on many chapters because of the controversy surrounding the fraternity as a whole.
