Hi ladies! Welcome to Cornell. While all of you thinking about rushing will probably look at this site at one time or another, I wanted to give my two cents about how Greek life at Cornell really is. I'm an upperclassman in one of the 13 Panhellenic houses on campus, and you should know that Greek life is NOT how it is represented on this site. 1. rankings matter (sort of): To be honest, perceptions of your house will partially dictate what mixers you get. HOWEVER, you WILL have mixers no matter what arbitrary "tier" your house falls into. Likewise, you will have friends in other houses, no matter what tier or houses you and your friends end up in. 2. Panhellenic ladies love their houses. Usually. And I can assure you that there are only a small handful or less of girls in each house writing bad things about each other on this site. The majority of us either couldn't care less or just wouldn't be so rude to another Panhellenic woman. You will really not come across such animosity between houses in real life. 3. Try to go into rush with an open mind, and trust your gut. Choose your house based on where you are most comfortable. You're finding a home, not just an easy ticket to a social life. Give every house a chance, and you may be surprised where you choose to go. I hope that you all choose to rush, and that you find your home away from home with a house full of new sisters. Enjoy your first semester ladies!
