I came to Cornell from a state where rush is taken way more seriously than it is at Cornell, but even that didn't prepare me. At my home state I had friends in houses, alumni rec letters, and the headshot/application "package" that I didn't even end up using at Cornell because I thought the whole thing was stupid. I will admit that I did meet a lot of girls I liked in top houses, but I ended up finding my place in what is considered a "lower middle" tier sorority and I am perfectly happy. Don't come in with the mindset that you want to be in a certain house because of its reputation, but If you really want to maximize your chances in more well known houses be confident, 100% yourself, and show that you would be a positive addition to the given chapter. If you do that and don't end up in a top house it may be for the best!
