The tunnel bridge crowd can be pretty rude and could definitely use a cotillion class or two. And some Southerners could ease up on the entitlement. Let’s be real—South Carolina doesn’t have the financial centers like Charlotte, Atlanta, or Nashville to support higher education. UGA, UNC, and UTK have more backing thanks to their alumni and feeder markets. USC relies on out-of-state tuition to stay competitive. It’s not about “Yankees” taking over—it’s about keeping the school funded and improving. Without out-of-state students, USC would struggle. Plus, our enrollment and acceptance stats are more competitive, which makes your diploma more valuable. The USC business school teaches about capitalism, and higher education is definitely a business. An SEC education is trending, but the state can’t carry the load alone.
