Well, it's actually NOT about deciding who to cut, it's about deciding who to keep. I know it doesn't seem that way from the pnm perspective, but that is really the way it goes. There are no discussions on who to cut, that's not the focus at all, the discussions and voting are all on who they like best as a good fit for them. CPA gives each house a different cap for how many they can invite back each round, and can't go over, so a house's invitation list is this number, and then the house also ranks a flex list to fill in for any pnm's who wouldn't come back, the pnms' whose schedules fill up first with other houses they like better. The chapters submit these lists and are matched up according to the pnm's schedules and the rest of a house's pnm's are released. If you don't get invited back it's because you were just not high enough to make that cutoff number. It doesn't mean they actively chose to cut you, or that they didn't like you, it was just the invitation cap for that house. Every single chapter has to decide their first invitation lists without meeting any pnm's in person, so GPA and chapter connections are very important, then resume and video and social media. Plenty of great pnm's never step foot in certain houses because of the invitation cap. The rest of the rounds are where conversations and how you present yourself in person are what matters. Personal connections are made during these rounds. After these parties the actives make notes and so do the groups that met the same pnm's. At the end of the day, every chapter discusses (in a very positive way), votes, ranks, and puts their lists together to submit, but every sorority has their own way of doing it. The actives do not know the final result, only recruitment team knows that until everyone else finds out the next day. You have to remember that it is a chapter decision, not just up to the members you met. Actives get VERY upset when their favorite girls don't come back. Emotions run high when this happens. If you feel like you have made real connections to actives in a house where you were cut, you actually did. It was real. You just didn't make their cutoff and you aren't the only one feeling that sting. It's all about how many they are allowed to bring back, not who to cut. It's not personal. It's a numbers game. Hope this helps.
