Well, alumna initiation is not really the option for someone who missed joining during school and wants a shot at college sorority life. You would belong to the local alumnae chapter, not a chapter at a school, which is not at all like the college sorority experience. Alumnae chapters have some social functions and financially support the national sorority, its philanthropy, and local chapters as they need, and are more like Junior League or a garden club or any number of local philanthropy organizations. Alumnae initiation is really a way of thanking and honoring women who already have a strong connection and history of service or support to the sorority, like a long-serving house mother, or a member's mom who was involved and supportive above and beyond, a woman who contributes substantial funding, or even a school administrator who was instrumental in a chapter's success.
