To the one who said #13's advice is the only one you'll be taking. It sounds like you aren't in a sorority but plan to rush. When you use words like "fake girls," "superficial quality" and "pathetic," makes me wonder why you're bothering. I mean, who wants that? I deal with so many PNMs and those usually aren't the words I hear from them. Anti-Greeks and bitter girls who tried and didn't make it, yes. PNMs with the right intentions, no. You're right to a degree though. Take any large organization and you'll find members who are more focused on the superficial. That's just life and it's most everywhere. But to say there's a superficial aspect to being in a sorority, and imply it defines every member in every house, is way off base. As it's long been said about Greek Life, though: "From the outside looking in, you can't begin to understand it. From the inside looking out, you can't begin to explain it." I won't even try. Just rush and try to find your house, and hopefully you'll discover that the "superficial aspect," while it might be present among some members, won't be among all or even most. There's a reason why women love their sororities, and a reason why some alumnae stay involved, support their nationals and take pride in their pins until the day they die. It's not because they had a great time with a bunch of fake girls, pathetically trying to deny the superficial aspect of their experience, I can tell you that. Hope you discover what I mean.
