The drunken party approach is great for the best 10-20% of guys. They can get lucky every day. However, It is the problem for avg frat guy. Why? Because, If a girl is a 7 or 8 and she is just DTF, she can find a hunky guy who is a 9 who is willing to provide his services. She doesn't have to settle. The avg frat guy is a sucker. He pays a lot for parties so the top few hunky guys can get lucky. He may get lucky from Time to time, but not nearly what he would like. More avg frat guys are better off with a gf.
