<strong>Subject:</strong><br />on "socially awkward" girls<br /><br /> Poster Message:
I've seen some references on some threads here and I want to share my own experience with being "socially awkward." I was bullied pretty excessively in high school and had abusive parents and became depressed and suicidal at almost one point. Fast forward to college: I came to UGA from out of state to make a fresh start but I still felt socially awkward and recruitment was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I had a panic attack before recruitment and almost withdrew, but my best friend back home encouraged me to stick with it. Somehow I survived and joined a fabulous house, although I was still painfully shy at first and it took me a little while to make friends in my PC. At some point during that first year, I started to blossom socially since my sisters and PC were so encouraging and supportive. It was a completely change from high school. I even worked up the courage to run for an exec council position. Anyway, I just want to stay before you make fun of the socially awkward girl, think twice. There could be a reason she is quiet or has a hard time holding a convo. Instead of being so mean, try reaching out to this girl because you might just make a difference in her life. Pan love <3
