Most of this advice is super accurate, except PNMs should be really cautious about talking to their gamma chi about issues. I had a house take me into their “VIP” room during house tours AND very directly promised me a bid. I made the mistake of telling my gamma chi about it, then the house cut me before the next round. Found out on bid day that my gamma chi was a member of that sorority… so yah, if you talk to your gamma chi about a negative/rule-breaking experience at a specific house, just remember there’s a 1/19 chance that she’s a member there lol. Definitely don’t get your hopes up about bid promising, but realize that talking to your gamma chi will NEVER help you get a bid from a house that doesn’t want you - basically they can’t help you but can definitely hurt. I would also suggest that PNMs specifically ignore their placement in line before each round. Since different houses have different methods, it’s hard to accurately read into it, and you’ll just end up second guessing yourself by trying to figure out where you stand based on line placement (my chapter has a specific order for where we line up, then we place PNMs in the right order to end up talking to someone they have common interests with. Our hottest girls who stand in front aren’t necessarily the best at actually talking to PNMs, so a PNM in the back of the line could still be a girl we’re targeting/matched with one of our best recruiters).
