So I’m actually in APhi at another school but transferring to UGA next year, and I’m not planning to re-affiliate with the chapter here. From what I know about their UGA chapter, I don’t think they’re as bad as people say on this site, but there’s definitely a social hierarchy within the chapter and I’ve heard they can be unwelcoming to any “non-standard” members (like transfers, upperclassmen, COB bids etc…). Also, just a heads up but APhi at pretty much any school is the type of sorority where nationals puts a ton of pressure on chapters to fit our overall “brand” which means that if you don’t already fit that image, you’ll be expected to conform or be pressured to drop. Personally I think some of our rules around appearance and social media presence are not very inclusive, but I have heard that the UGA chapter is less restrictive about getting involved in other campus organizations at least (at my current school, we can only join other clubs/organizations if they’re on APhi’s approved list) Basically, if you feel confident that you fit in well with the chapter, and don’t mind having to follow a lot of rules, then I think the UGA APhi chapter is probably a solid option, but if you’re the type of person who values individuality and/or if you don’t feel like you’re that similar to the other APhis you’ve met, it might be worth exploring other options during COB or waiting until fall rush if possible.
