On one hand, getting 2 new sororities within a couple years is nice because it will make quotas smaller for everyone, make it easier for the houses that are already here to get the girls they want, and change things up since Greek life has been about the same for the last 15 years. I think people are more excited about alpha phi and DPhiE because alpha phi is bigger nationally and UGA is one of the only SEC schools that doesn't have an aphi chapter. On the other hand, while I think alpha phi has the potential to become a upper mid-top tier sorority eventually, they're most likely going to be off to a rough start because DPhiE came here first. If you wanted the appeal of being a founding member, DPhiE would have been the better opportunity but honestly if you join alpha phi, they probably wouldn't have a decent chapter here until your junior or senior year at least. Considering 90-95% of PNMs already get bids here, I honestly wish we had just gotten alpha phi and then got DPhiE in 5 years or so (or the other way around). Considering basic supply and demand (between 19 chapters, there won't be enough good PNMs to go around) I think you have to evaluate whether being a founding member is worth being in the bottom house on campus for most of your time in college. It's the same with DPhiE, except DPhiE at least has a little while to get set up before aphi comes here so idk which will be stronger at first
