I would add that I've seen individual girls make a huge difference in a house's popularity. If a girl is outstanding, sometimes she can shine brighter in a house that doesn't have as many "stars." So don't feel embarrassed that you got a lower house, see it as a challenge and maybe in four years it will be a middle or higher ranked house because of you.
