In grad school, you would not hang out with the collegiate chapter. You could volunteer as an advisor if you really wanted to be involved in the collegiate group, but most women who wish to be involved with their sorority after undergrad join an alumni chapter. The major Texas cities (as well as major cities in other states) typically have multiple alumni chapters in each city. For example, my sorority has a Dallas Day chapter (mostly for older women who don't work or stay at home moms since their events are during the daytime) and a Dallas Night chapter which is mostly young professional alumnae in their 20's. Dallas Night events tend to be more focused on making new friendships (happy hours & other fun activies) than rituals and philanthropy. The Day and Night groups team up for several events throughout the year like Founder's Day and our philanthropy's fundraiser. Hope this helps!
