You don't know what the custom is at another school. In the South on lots of campuses, the houses welcome parents after bids are given out, and even host brunch or lunch, plus house tours. Parents aren't intruding or helicoptering - they are invited, and it's the girls whose families don't show up that are the minority. Just saying, don't imply that the OP is being intrusive just for asking. Y'all are in the SEC now, and people are going to reasonably wonder if you have SEC traditions.
