Each house is going from 1500 women at the beginning of the week down to 85ish on bid day...so only 5% of the women who walked through the front doors of ABC on Monday will be there tomorrow. House cuts & the PNM's rankings help whittle the numbers down from 1500 to quota. A lot of PNM's who don't already have friends in the houses or very involved alumnae pulling for them from the inside DO fall through the cracks, especially with the houses perceived to be top and middle tier. It's a numbers game to a certain extent. Unless you specifically have made comments in the house about your financial status or expressed shock at how high dues are or concern about payment plans, I doubt your financial status had anything to so with your heavy cuts. The easy things to cut for are lack of recs and below average grades. And reputation. If you have all of those things going for you, it's more likely the invite lists were already full by the time they got down to your name (hence, falling through the cracks). It may mean that the house did want to invite you back, but not as much as some others. Please don't withdraw today. Pref is often a game-changer and you may find yourself really connecting to the chapter(s) you have invitations to tonight. If you hate them tonight, withdraw, but realize your freshman year is your best shot at becoming a sorority woman. Sophomores re-rushing are usually not thrilled with their results and the successful sophomores are usually first timers.
