1. Its a very time consuming activity 2. Guys typically do not find dancing as much fun, and the field of dance is primarily occupied by women 3. Songfest does little to nothing for recruitment for fraternities compared to sororities, especially for the amount of time and effort required 4. If you lose, not very much goes toward philanthropy. All in all, frats will get much much more out of recruitment, philanthropy, and their own personal enjoyment of the greek experience by not participating in songfest, and focusing their energies elsewhere. If fraternities ran a philanthropy based around a male-dominated activity that raised little philanthropy funds for the participating sorority chapters, did little for a sorority’s recruitment, and that wasn't very girlboss on paper, then you can bet that yall probably wouldn’t participate in that either.
