Is your 2.79 college or high school? If high school, NO- do not rush. You're going to get cut everywhere because you won't be able to handle the time expectations of a sorority and pass your classes. If college, MAYBE. A 2.79 is way below the all-sorority and all-womens GPAs, but if you have close friends in a lot of houses, all of your recs lined up, and an outstanding A&M resume (leadership, involvement, etc) you'll have a chance to get into maybe half the houses as a "grade risk." If you're drop-dead gorgeous, then you'll have a shot at more houses.
