there was a post a while back ranking both sororities and fraternities by GPA, dollars raised, service hours completed, ig followers, and violations received. The Greek life website provides all that information too. So, yes, all is the above plus social calendar is what builds a good reputation. Why pay to join an organization if you don’t get anything out of it?
