Do you have conversational difficulties all of the time or just when you have nerves and there are noises and distractions? That is important. The following is based on you being comfortable among friends or small groups and that you don't have any conversation issues in general: 1. Go through Recruitment. It may be difficult. Definitely let your rec writers know this information so that they can pass it along to the chapters. You don't want the girl that you get paired with to think you are aloof or worse. If you do not do well trying to make small talk in a noisy, distracting, and high-nerves situation this may not be the best option for you. 2. Do not go through Recruitment as a first semester freshman. Make lots of friends, let them know of your interest in joining a sorority and participate in Spring Recruitment. This is a more laid back situation, however not all the chapters participate and most that do will not announce it. Invitations to spring recruitment events are typically to friends of those already in the chapter. 3. Participate in Phi Mu's recruitment. They will be a new sorority at TCU in Fall 2016, and will recruit after Formal Recruitment is over. It is more of an interview process with local alums and national officers. You could probably share your LD with your interviewer, and then highlight your 4.0 in spite of it. There are no guarantees of a bid, even with a colony, but that type of Recruitment may play more to your conversational strengths.
