Hey moms, I totally feel your pain. My daughter went through recruitment last year and it was devastating to be dropped so quickly by so many houses. Even the house that had contacted one of her recs, asked for additional photos (which we now know were for a power point,) and was told to "tell the mother we are VERY INTERESTED IN HER!" It is a cruel process at a time when the girls need to feel good about themselves - leaving home, starting college, making new friends - it's a huge adjustment. I got those crying calls too - all week long. In the end, if you stick with the process you're guaranteed a bid, but it may be in a house you don't necessarily think you want, but think it's better than not joining one at all. Best advice we got was from a boy who was a year ahead - you'll be friends with girls in all the houses and the fraternities do things with all the sororities so it's not that big of a deal. In then end, that turned out to be true, but the rejection hurt all the same and I think set her up for a bunch of failures last year.
