This university has 2 souls.One soul is the old south and it's southern and Christian, and for them the C is very important. The other soul is a big party school and for them the C is silent. . Most of the time the two souls peacefully coexist, and there are many individuals who embody both souls. I'm not southern nor am I a big partier, so this school hasn't really been the best fit for me. I choose to make the best of it, and I joined a fraternity, and I'm moderately happy. I'm not from California, but I'm not southern either, so I can't advise on the southern schools. If I had gotten into a school like Northwestern that would have been a much better fit for me. I did get into several small liberal arts schools in the Midwest and back east (i.e. Oberlin). I decided against those, because they seemed to pretentious and ultraliberal, but I overcorrected with TCU.. I probably should have chosen something like Syracuse or CU Bolder, but my parents were willing to pay for private (not humble bragging, just telling my story). There are a lot of Californians here, and most of them are partiers.
