You don't really have to worry! The sisters you are paired with at each house will steer the conversation. If they're doing what they're supposed to do, you will be paired with members who have common interests such as same major, played the same sport, from the same place etc. so you will be put at ease. The first round parties will go by so quickly and will be a blur of basic questions "where are you from?", "what's your major?" "What did you do this summer?" etc. As rush continues, the parties will get longer and the conversations will get more personal and that's when you can really get into more personal questions specific to each sorority like what they do for philanthropy, what their sisterhood is like, what are the sisters' favorite memories of their time in the sorority etc. So start thinking about what you'd like to know about a sorority before you join (avoiding things like parties money, politics, religion and anything else that could be controversial.) Don't ask questions that can be answered with a yes or no, and don't answer their questions with just a yes or no, elaborate on your answer. (Dumb example: if someone asks you something like "Is it hot enough for you today?" You could answer something like "Yes, but back home it's 115 degrees so it almost feels like fall to me." That gives them something more to talk to you about like "115? How do you cope living in that kind of heat?") There is also nothing wrong with letting the sister you're talking to know that you're on the reserved side so she doesn't misinterpret that as disinterest. Good luck!
