Now for preference, let’s imagine the same PNM with the two party schedule of B and E. Here are the way things could work out for her. After Pref parties, she ranks the sororities: #1 B #2 E In this scenario, let’s say she receives a bid to E. This means one of two things: Either she didn’t place high enough on B’s list but did place high enough on E’s OR she didn’t place high enough on either list but she was placed in E as a quota addition because she did everything she was supposed to, maximized her options, and listed all sororities she preffed on her final ranking. IF she decides she’d rather eat glass than be a member of E (which is really dumb for a lot of reasons!) then does her final ranking like this: #1 B __ This is called Single Intentional Preference (AKA “suiciding”) and it means if she’s not high enough on B’s list, she will not receive a bid at all since she decided to SIP and is not eligible for quota additions. The PNM has chosen not to be Greek because she didn’t rank E and she wasn’t on B’s bid list. Hopefully this mostly makes sense. I know it’s really confusing, so if you have more questions, feel free to ask.
