I think it happens more than it should, and I wouldn't recommend it. I'm a senior and I've known so many girls each year who are so upset during rush about getting cut from certain houses, and even upset on bid day, who wind up loving the sorority after a week or two of pledging and actually getting to know everyone. I'm not in a bottom-tier house by any means. My house is considered upper middle tier, but during rush I didn't really love them and was disappointed when they were the only house I preffed. Even bid day I was apprehensive. After a week, it made sense why it was the sorority I ended up in as I got to know my pledge class, other girls in the sorority, and figured out the house dynamic when they're not putting on a show during rush. So give wherever you end up a chance and if it's not for you after a few weeks, then drop.
