greek life is what each house makes out of it and what each person makes of it... there is no right or wrong way to be. at SU there is certainly a lot of emphasis on popularity and looks... Here's where I'm gonna be blunt... YOU CHOSE TO GO TO SYRACUSE!!! it's a party school that's huge on sports, this is the way things are run here. No one asked you to join a house. greek life isn't the only philanthropic opportunity. IF you wanta help house there are NUMEROUS organizations on campus that are specifically devoted to volunteer work, such as habitat for humanity and APO. Each year, the greek community raises millions of dollars for their philanthropies nationally. Greeklife is REQUIRED to give back to the community. welcome to the real world. things that "matter" also include physical attractiveness. This is why there are things like make up , clothes, and victoria secrets models. People are innately attracted to people who look good. Its a basic facet of the human experience. As a consumer society, many aspects of our lives involve rankings. Which college is the best? which sports team is the best. We even have reviews on Amazon, which help us make purchase decisions. This site allows us to evaluate our decisions. Competition is innate in all living things, needless to say humans. this type of behavior is learned at an extremely young age. It's hard to change when youve done something your entire life. Without rambling on forever... i just wanta say just let it be...
