Sig Chi was only ever "bottom of t2" because they were on downtowns, which was only ever because they were the down payment frat. Essentially, when 2-4 frats work together to throw downtown, one of them has to front the initial downpayment + coordination time for venues. For T1s and T2s, this role is split pretty evenly, then they split profits evenly too. Sig Chi comes in one year and basically says they will front all the down payments so long as frats agree to let them in on downtowns. They also agreed to take a smaller revenue cut, despite putting in all the planning time. So literally for a shred of clout, Sig Chi was subsidizing the downtowns for T1 and T2 frats. Otherwise, no one would ever have considered throwing with them. Of course, anyone who was remotely involved already knew this, so once any other frat stepped up to plan a downtown (like Apes did this year), Sig Chi would get kicked off instantly, because other T1/T2s would prefer to throw with each other rather than Sig Chi. This is why having a downtown alone isn't a good indication of ranking, since Theos/Castle will sign on to literally anything someone else is paying for. This is how the SAE/theos downtown last year that came out of nowhere happened and why no upperclassmen attended. So yeah, Sig Chi has always been T3 and the only reason they were seen as higher is because they were willing to get used by T1s/T2s.
