countries with higher levels of gender equality have greater disparities than normal in STEM representation... so when its not professionally or culturally advantageous to pursue STEM anymore than other fields, women choose to not study STEM and do other things that they are passionate about, while men continue to follow their inherent passions in STEM-- that is the paradox and it does support what i said.
